The National Weather on Saturday reported that an area of cloudiness and thunderstorms associated with a trough of low pressure had formed over the western Gulf of Mexico.
Any development of the trough should occur slowly before the system moves inland over northeastern Mexico on Sunday, the weather service stated on its website.
The system has only a 10 percent chance of becoming a tropical cyclone either during the next 48 hours or the next five days, according to the online report.
Another tropical wave will move into the north Atlantic Ocean and across the eastern Caribbean Sea into the central Caribbean through mid-week, the weather service said.
"Expect increasing winds and building seas across the east and central Caribbean behind the tropical wave," the online statement said.
