Depression
is a mental illness that causes psychological distress to the person
suffering from it.
It is generally described as a lowering of mood and the feeling of intense sadness for weeks, months, or longer limiting the person from going about his or her daily activities.
This impairment can cause the victim much loss of normal physical and mental functioning.

Depression
shouldn't be mistaken for the usual feeling of bad moods, sadness or
feeling down. Such feelings are normal reaction to day to day events,
and they are often overcome within a short time.
Signs of depression: Am I depressed ?

- Fatigue and Loss of energy, feeling exhausted and drained all the time, even when you have just woken from a long sleep
- Sleeping troubles : sleep for very less than usual, sleep too much and/or disturbing dreams
- Poor concentration level,
- Thoughts of suicide or suicidal attempts are also the prominent signs of depression.
- Inability to make decisions.
- Physical problems such as headache, stomach pain or back pain.
- Sexual problems.
Signs
of depression can vary with individuals, between genders and age
groups. The key to diagnosing depression is that a number of the
symptoms must persist over time. You do not have to show all the
symptoms above to be diagnosed with depression.
